MOAP1 Antibody (G-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects MOAP1 in mouse and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MOAP1, or modulator of apoptosis 1, is a crucial 352 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene MOAP1, belonging to the PNMA family, and is essential for mediating death receptor-dependent apoptosis. The protein features a BH3-like domain and a RASSF1-binding domain, which play significant roles in its function. When MOAP1 interacts with RASSF1 isoform A, MOAP1 undergoes a conformational change that activates pro-apoptotic properties by facilitating the translocation of Bax to mitochondrial membranes in response to tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and TNFSF10 stimulation. This interaction is vital as MOAP1 not only promotes apoptosis but also helps regulate cell survival, making MOAP1 a key player in cellular responses to stress and potential therapeutic target in cancer. Additionally, MOAP1 exists as a homo-dimer and is typically maintained in an inactive state through intramolecular interactions, which are disrupted upon binding to RASSF1A, allowing MOAP1 to engage with other proteins such as Bcl-2 and Bcl-x, further emphasizing its role in apoptosis regulation.
