    SEE ALSO...

MND1 Antibody (G-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MND1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MND1 (G-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MND1, or meiotic nuclear division protein 1 homolog, is a crucial 205 amino acid nuclear protein that plays a vital role in homologous chromosome pairing and meiotic double-strand break repair, which are essential processes for accurate genetic recombination during meiosis. MND1 protein is primarily localized to chromatin during meiotic prophase, where MND1 preferentially binds to double-stranded DNA, facilitating the formation of a stable heterodimeric complex with HOP2. This complex is critical for activating the recombinase activity of DMC1 and RAD51, both of which are necessary for effective meiotic recombination. Disruption of the MND1-HOP2 complex can lead to severe defects in homologous chromosome synapsis and meiotic recombination, underscoring MND1′s importance in maintaining genomic stability. The MND1 gene is located on human chromosome 4, a region that is significant not only for its size, housing nearly 6% of the human genome, but also for containing some of the largest gene deserts in the human genome. Notably, defects in genes on chromosome 4 have been linked to various genetic disorders, including Huntington′s disease, Ellis-van Creveld syndrome, methylmalonic acidemia, and polycystic kidney disease, highlighting the broader implications of MND1′s function in cellular processes.
