MMP-7 Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MMP-7 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MMP-7 (A-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a crucial family of peptidase enzymes that play a significant role in the degradation of extracellular matrix components, such as collagen, gelatin, fibronectin, laminin, and proteoglycans. MMP-7, also known as Pump-1, matrilysin, or uterine metalloproteinase, is particularly important due to its ability to degrade various substrates, including casein and different types of gelatin (I, III, IV, and V). Notably, MMP-7 mRNA is exclusively produced by epithelial cells in mice, and expression is restricted to specific organs, indicating that beyond a role in matrix degradation and remodeling, MMP-7 may also be involved in the differentiated functions of these organs. The transcription of MMP genes is differentially activated by stimuli such as phorbol ester, lipopolysaccharide (LPS), or staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB), and the catalytic activity of MMP-7 requires both calcium and zinc ions, highlighting the intricate regulation and functional significance of this enzyme in physiological and pathological processes.
