MITF Antibody (D-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects MITF protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MITF antibody (D-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MITF protein, or microphthalmia-associated transcription factor, plays a crucial role in the development and differentiation of melanocytes, which are responsible for pigment production in the skin, hair, and eyes. MITF activates key genes involved in pigment synthesis, such as tyrosinase, TRP1, and TRP2, by binding to their E-boxes. cAMP and associated pathways influence MITF regulation, and phosphorylation at Ser73 enhances interaction with co-activators from the p300/CBP family, further promoting transcriptional activity. MITF presence is vital for melanocyte survival, as evidenced by the complete absence of these cells in MITF-deficient mice, underscoring MITF significance in pigmentation and potential implications in conditions such as albinism and melanoma.
