MIC2 Antibody (F-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects MIC2 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MIC2, also known as CD99, is a critical T cell surface protein that plays a significant role in lymphocyte aggregation, essential for effective immune responses. MIC2 exists in two forms due to alternative splicing: the major form promotes cellular adhesion, while the truncated form inhibits this process. This balance is crucial, as MIC2 regulates the interaction between lymphocytes and other cells through the LFA-1/ICAM-1 pathway, influencing immune cell migration and function. Notably, overexpression of the truncated form of MIC2 can lead to a downregulation of LFA-1, resulting in altered cell adhesion properties and contributing to the Hodgkin′s and Reed-Sternberg (H-RS) phenotype in certain lymphomas. MIC2′s ability to modulate cell adhesion and morphology underscores its importance in maintaining immune system integrity and highlights its potential as a therapeutic target in lymphoproliferative disorders.
