MHC class II Antibody (ER-TR3) is a rat monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects MHC class II in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MHC class II (ER-TR3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, such as agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II molecules play a crucial role in the immune response by presenting processed exogenous antigens to CD4+ T helper cells, which are essential for orchestrating adaptive immunity. These molecules are primarily located on the surface of antigen-presenting cells, including dendritic cells, macrophages, and B cells, where they facilitate the recognition of foreign peptides by T lymphocytes. The ability of MHC class II molecules to bind longer peptides, typically ranging from 13 to 18 amino acids, is vital for effective immune signaling, as this binding allows for a diverse array of antigens to be presented, thus enhancing the immune system′s ability to respond to various pathogens. The interaction between MHC class II and T cell receptors is a key event in the activation of helper T cells, which subsequently leads to the activation of B cells and cytotoxic T cells, underscoring MHC class II′s importance in maintaining immune homeostasis and response.

Can sc-59318: MHC class II (ER-TR3) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: jerojero
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-59318: MHC class II (ER-TR3) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
