MerTK Antibody (B-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects MerTK protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MerTK antibody (B-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MerTK, also known as c-Mer, is a vital member of the Mer/Axl/Tyro3 receptor kinase family and consists of 984 amino acids, featuring one tyrosine kinase domain, two fibronectin type-III domains, and two immunoglobulin-like C2-type domains. MerTK is predominantly located on the surface of macrophages and plays a crucial role in the immune response, particularly in the clearance of apoptotic cells, which is essential for maintaining tissue homeostasis and preventing autoimmune diseases. MerTK′s signaling pathway is activated through interaction with phosphatidylinositol-specific phospholipase C γ2 (PI-PLC γ2), which is critical for the phagocytic process in the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE). Mutations in the MerTK gene can disrupt this pathway, leading to conditions such as autosomal recessive retinitis pigmentosa, characterized by the degeneration of retinal photoreceptor cells.
