Med22 Antibody (D-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Med22 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Med22 (D-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Med22, also known as Mediator complex subunit 22 or SURF5 (Surfeit locus protein 5), is a crucial component of the RNA polymerase II (Pol II) transcriptional mediator complex, which plays a vital role in the regulated transcription of Pol II-dependent genes. Med22 functions as a bridge, conveying information from gene-specific regulatory proteins to the basal Pol II transcription machinery, thereby facilitating the recruitment of the mediator complex to promoter regions through direct interactions with regulatory proteins. Additionally, Med22 is involved in the assembly of a functional pre-initiation complex with Pol II and other general transcription factors, making Med22 essential for the transcriptional regulation of various genes. Med22 is ubiquitously expressed and consists of 200 amino acids, with two isoforms produced through alternative splicing events, highlighting Med22′s versatility and importance in gene expression regulation across different species.
