SEE ALSO...

MD-1 Antibody (F-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MD-1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MD-1 (F-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MD-1, also known as lymphocyte antigen 68 and RP105 associated protein, plays a crucial role in regulating cell surface expression of RP105, a molecule originally identified as a B cell surface marker that transmits activation signals leading to B cell proliferation and resistance to apoptosis induced by irradiation. MD-1 is essential for forming lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-signaling complex on B cells, enhancing LPS signaling through Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), which is vital for immune response. Structurally, MD-1 consists of 162 amino acids, featuring a predicted 19 amino acid signal peptide and two N-glycosylation sites, which are important for stability and function. MD-1 is highly expressed in B cells, monocytes, and tonsils, and is localized on the cell surface despite lacking a transmembrane region, highlighting a unique role in immune signaling and cellular communication.
