MBD4 Antibody (A-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects MBD4 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MBD4, also known as MED1, plays a crucial role in DNA damage repair by interacting with mismatch repair protein MLH1, which is essential for maintaining genomic stability. Anti-MBD4 antibody (A-8) preferentially binds to methylated cytosine residues in mismatched base pairs, thereby facilitating DNA repair and preventing mutations that could lead to various diseases, including cancer. MBD4′s presence in somatic tissues underscores its importance in cellular processes, particularly in epigenetic regulation and transcriptional repression associated with DNA methylation. Anti-MBD4 antibody (A-8) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying gene regulation and DNA repair pathways, providing insights into molecular underpinnings of genetic disorders and potential therapeutic targets.

What is the recommended fixation method for immunofluorescence staining with MBD4 (A-8): sc-365974 monoclonal antibody?

Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend fixing cells for 5 minutes in -10°C methanol and allowing to air dry. The full protocol can be viewed here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
