MBD2/3 Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects MBD2/3 in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MBD2/3 plays a crucial role in the regulation of gene expression by binding to methylated DNA, particularly at methyl-CpG sites, which are pivotal for transcriptional repression. This interaction is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and regulating developmental processes, as aberrations in DNA methylation patterns can lead to various diseases, including cancer. MBD2, in particular, is known to form complexes with histone deacetylases, thereby facilitating the repression of transcription in a context-dependent manner. The ability of MBD2/3 to interact with other proteins, such as the transcriptional repressor mSin3A, underscores its importance in chromatin remodeling and gene silencing.
