MAVS Antibody (E-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MAVS protein of mouse origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MAVS (E-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MAVS, or mitochondrial antiviral-signaling protein, is a crucial 540 amino acid protein that plays a significant role in the immune response to viral infections. MAVS protein is primarily located in the outer mitochondrial membrane, where MAVS acts as a signaling hub for the detection of double-stranded viral RNA by proteins such as RIG-I. Proper localization of MAVS protein is essential for function, as MAVS facilitates the activation of downstream signaling pathways that lead to the production of antiviral cytokines, thereby enhancing the host′s immune defense. Additionally, MAVS protein is subject to post-translational modifications, including cleavage by viral proteases, which can inactivate signaling capabilities and hinder the immune response. The presence of three isoforms of MAVS, resulting from alternative splicing, adds another layer of complexity to regulation and function, making anti-MAVS antibody (E-6) a valuable tool for studying the intricate mechanisms of antiviral immunity in mouse models.

Does the MAVS Antibody (E-6): sc-365334 work in BMDMs and MEFs for IF staining? I tried to do IF staining on BMDMs but failed. Any protocol which may work nice?

Asked by: asdzxcx
Thank you for your question. We do not currently have any data in those specific types of mouse cells. However, the antibody is recommended for IF in mouse samples, and we do have data and citations available using this antibody in mouse for this application. Please contact our Technical Service Department for assistance in troubleshooting the antibody.

Can MAVS (E-6): sc-365334 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, MAVS (E-6): sc-365334 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
