MAVS Antibody (E-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects MAVS protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MAVS (E-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MAVS, or mitochondrial antiviral-signaling protein, is a crucial 540 amino acid protein that features one CARD domain and several transmembrane domains, localizing primarily to the outer mitochondrial membrane. MAVS plays a vital role in the immune response by functioning downstream of RIG-I, a protein that detects double-stranded viral RNA, thereby initiating a signaling cascade that leads to the production of antiviral cytokines. MAVS functioning is essential for an effective immune response against viral infections, as MAVS helps to activate pathways that not only promote the expression of these cytokines but also protect cells from viral-induced apoptosis. MAVS can be inactivated through cleavage by a protease complex that degrades CARD and transmembrane domains, which prevents interaction with other critical proteins in the immune signaling pathway. MAVS is subject to alternative splicing, resulting in the expression of three distinct isoforms, which may have different regulatory roles in immune responses.

Can this antibody used to detect the aggregation of the MAVS when it is activated during the antiviral response in the cells?

During my experiments with viral infection I have observed two bands just in my infected cells (microglias), at 75 and a bigger one. What could be the cause of this? thank you

Can this antibody be used for IF in lung tissus (costaining)?

can this antibody be used for WB in mouse cell line?

Can this antibody be used in IHC with paraffin-embedded samples?

Thank you for your question. Yes, this MAVS antibody sc-166583 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections.
