MAT IIβ Antibody (H-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects MAT IIβ in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MAT IIβ, also known as methionine adenosyltransferase II, beta, TGR, MAT-II, or SDR23E1, is a 334 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in amino acid biosynthesis and is widely expressed in various tissues, particularly in the liver. MAT IIβ exists as a heterotetramer alongside two MAT IIα subunits, functioning primarily as a non-catalytic regulatory protein that modulates MAT IIα activity by altering kinetic properties, which enhances susceptibility to inhibition. MAT IIβ regulation of MAT IIα is significant as this influences methionine catabolism and, consequently, the synthesis of S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet), a critical methyl donor involved in numerous biological processes, including DNA methylation and gene expression regulation. Furthermore, MAT IIβ is expressed in hepatoma cells and contributes to cell proliferation by potentially increasing DNA synthesis rate, highlighting MAT IIβ importance in cellular growth and metabolism. Notably, multiple MAT IIβ isoforms arise from alternative splicing events, which may further diversify functional roles in different cellular contexts. Anti-MAT IIβ antibody (H-4) is an essential tool for researchers investigating the intricate mechanisms of amino acid metabolism and its implications in health and disease.
