SEE ALSO...

MAL Antibody (E-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects MAL protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MAL (E-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MAL protein, also known as myelin and lymphocyte protein or T lymphocyte maturation-associated protein, is a nonglycosylated hydrophobic integral membrane protein that plays a crucial role in forming and maintaining myelin sheaths in the nervous system. MAL protein is primarily localized in lipid rafts and apical membranes of epithelial cells, where MAL protein contributes to stabilizing glycosphingolipid-enriched membrane microdomains. This localization is vital for proper sorting and trafficking of oligodendrocytes, which are essential for maintaining the integrity of the central nervous system′s paranodal regions. Additionally, MAL protein is predominantly expressed by oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells during intermediate and late stages of T cell differentiation, highlighting MAL protein′s importance in both neural and immune system functions. MAL protein′s ability to interact with glycosphingolipids facilitates the formation of protein-lipid microdomains in myelin, underscoring MAL protein′s significance in cellular signaling and membrane organization.
