Makorin-1 Antibody (C-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Makorin-1 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Makorin-1 (C-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Makorin-1, also known as RING finger protein 61, plays a crucial role in cellular regulation through involvement in the ubiquitination of human telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT). This process is significant because TERT is essential for telomere maintenance, and degradation by Makorin-1 leads to reduced telomerase activity and shorter telomeres in telomerase-positive cells. Makorin-1 has been shown to inhibit the transcriptional activities of several key proteins, including c-Jun and various nuclear receptors, which are vital for numerous cellular processes. The inhibitory function of Makorin-1 requires both amino and carboxy termini, highlighting the importance of structural integrity for proper function. The dual role of Makorin-1 as both an inhibitor and activator of transcriptional activity underscores complex regulatory capabilities within the cell.
