MACF1 Antibody (H-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects MACF1 in mouse samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MACF1, or Microtubule-actin cross-linking factor 1, is a crucial 5,327 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene MACF1, belonging to the plakin or cytolinker family. MACF1 features a complex structure that includes one actin-binding domain, two calponin-homology domains, two EF-hand domains, one SH3 domain, and thirty-seven spectrin repeats, which are vital for maintaining cytoskeletal integrity. The spectrin repeats form a three-helix bundle, contributing to MACF1′s ability to cross-link actin filaments with other cytoskeletal components, thereby playing a significant role in cellular architecture and stability. MACF1 is predominantly expressed in the cytoplasm of various tissues, including the lung, brain, spinal cord, skeletal and cardiac muscle, and skin, highlighting MACF1′s importance in diverse cellular functions. MACF1′s ability to interact with both actin and microtubules underscores MACF1′s role in coordinating the cytoskeletal network, which is essential for processes such as cell shape maintenance, motility, and intracellular transport.
