LXRβ Antibody (H-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody specific to an epitope within amino acids 42-81 near the N-terminus of the liver X receptor beta (LXRβ) in humans, also known as NR1H2. LXRβ is a nuclear receptor that, along with its closely related partner LXRα, plays a key role in regulating cholesterol, fatty acid, and glucose metabolism, especially in hepatocytes and macrophages. This receptor acts as a transcriptional regulator by forming heterodimers with the retinoic X receptor (RXR) in response to ligand binding, influencing gene expression related to lipid homeostasis and inflammation. In addition to responding to ligands like oxysterols, LXRβ is part of the "orphan receptor" family due to its broad ligand reactivity, sharing ligand types with LXRα and displaying high expression in neuronal and endocrine tissues. Functionally, LXRβ′s modulation of lipid metabolism has implications for cellular lipid storage and transport, impacting processes such as atherosclerosis prevention and energy balance. Anti-LXRβ antibody (H-8) is recommended for applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in research on metabolic regulation and cholesterol homeostasis.
