    SEE ALSO...

LIP5 Antibody (D-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects LIP5 in human, mouse, and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). LIP5 Antibody (D-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. LIP5, also known as LYST-interacting protein 5, Vps20-associated 1 homolog, dopamine-responsive protein DRG-1, SKD1 binding protein 1, or My012, is a 307 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in the endosomal multivesicular bodies (MVB) pathway, which is essential for sorting membrane proteins, including lysosomal enzymes, lipids, and stimulated growth factor receptors, for lysosomal degradation. The proper functioning of LIP5 is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and regulating protein degradation, which can impact various cellular processes, including immune responses and viral budding. LIP5 is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and associated with both endosomal and peripheral membranes, and LIP5 expression has been observed in key organs such as the brain, liver, heart, and kidney. RNA interference studies have shown that LIP5 depletion significantly reduces human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) budding, highlighting LIP5′s importance in viral pathogenesis. Additionally, LIP5 interacts with several proteins, including CHMP1B, CHMP2A, CHMP5, VPS4B, KIAA0174 (IST1), and potentially CHMP3, indicating LIP5′s involvement in complex protein networks that regulate cellular trafficking and degradation pathways.
