KVβ.1 Antibody (H-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects KVβ.1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-KVβ.1 antibody (H-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. KVβ.1 plays a crucial role as an accessory subunit of voltage-gated potassium channels, which are essential for the regulation of electrical excitability in neurons and muscle cells. These channels are responsible for repolarizing the membrane potential after action potentials, thereby influencing the frequency and timing of neuronal firing and muscle contractions. The KV gene family, which includes over 30 different proteins, encodes the subunits that form these channels, and their diverse gating and permeation properties are vital for proper cellular function. KVβ.1 specifically modulates the activity of the pore-forming α subunits, enhancing the stability and functionality of the potassium channels. Notably, KVβ.1 is predominantly expressed in the brain, particularly in regions such as the caudate nucleus, hippocampus, and thalamus, as well as in the amygdala and subthalamic nucleus. In the cardiovascular system, KVβ.1 is significantly more abundant in the left ventricle compared to the left atrium, highlighting its potential role in cardiac physiology and pathophysiology.
