KVβ Antibody (F-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects KVβ protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). KVβ (F-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. KVβ protein, also known as KCNAB1, plays a crucial role as an accessory subunit in voltage-gated potassium channels, which are essential for the proper functioning of excitable cells such as neurons and muscle cells. These channels are responsible for repolarizing the membrane after action potentials, thereby influencing the frequency and timing of neuronal firing. The KV gene family encodes over 30 proteins that form the subunits of these channels, and KVβ specifically modulates the activity of the pore-forming alpha subunits, which are organized as tetramers. KVβ is particularly significant in the brain, where KVβ is predominantly expressed in regions such as the caudate nucleus, hippocampus, and thalamus, highlighting its importance in neural signaling and potential implications in neurological disorders.
