Kell Antibody (C-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Kell protein in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Kell antibody (C-10) targets the Kell blood group protein, which is a type II transmembrane endopeptidase that plays a crucial role in erythropoiesis and is primarily expressed in erythroid tissues and the testis, with lower levels found in various other tissues, including the brain and lymphoid tissues. Kell (C-10) antibody recognizes protein localization in Sertoli cells of the testis and follicular dendritic cells of the spleen and tonsil, highlighting involvement in both reproductive and immune functions. Kell is one of the major surface antigens on red blood cells, where Kell (C-10) monoclonal antibody detects protein linkage to XK protein by a single disulfide bond. The absence of XK, as seen in the McLeod phenotype, can lead to a range of clinical symptoms, including nerve and muscle disorders, as well as red cell acanthocytosis, underscoring the importance of Kell in maintaining normal physiological functions and potential implications in transfusion medicine and disease.
