    SEE ALSO...

Kell Antibody (A-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Kell protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Kell (A-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The KEL (CD238) gene encodes Kell protein, a type II transmembrane endopeptidase that plays a crucial role in regulating red blood cell membrane integrity and function. Kell protein is primarily expressed in erythroid tissues and testis, with lower levels found in brain and lymphoid tissues. Kell protein localization to Sertoli cells in testis and follicular dendritic cells in spleen and tonsil suggests a role in immune response and reproductive health. Kell protein is one of the major human surface antigens on red blood cells, where Kell protein is linked to XK protein by a single disulfide bond. XK protein absence, as seen in McLeod phenotype, is associated with clinical symptoms including nerve and muscle disorders and red cell acanthocytosis, highlighting Kell protein′s importance in both hematological and neurological health.

Can Kell (A-10): sc-377199 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

    Asked by: jerojero
Thank you for your question. Yes, Kell (A-10): sc-377199 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
