SEE ALSO...

KDEL ER Marker Antibody (10C3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects the KDEL ER Marker protein of broad species origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-KDEL ER Marker antibody (10C3) is available as the non-conjugated format. KDEL ER Marker protein plays a crucial role in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) by ensuring proper retention of misfolded proteins, which is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis. When proteins are misfolded, these can trigger ER stress response, leading to a cascade of cellular events aimed at restoring normal function. KDEL sequence, a C-terminal tetrapeptide retention signal (Lys-Asp-Glu-Leu), is essential for preventing secretion of misfolded proteins. KDEL sequence achieves this by binding to KDEL receptors, such as KDELR2, which cycle between Golgi apparatus and ER, facilitating retrieval of KDEL-tagged proteins back to ER. This mechanism is particularly important in research settings, as KDEL tags allow for coexpression of target proteins and subsequent redistribution to ER, providing insights into protein folding and trafficking processes.

Can this antibody be used for immunohistochemistry?

Asked by: BeatrizHG
Thank you for your question. We recommend this antibody for IF, or immunofluorescent staining of fresh or frozen tissues or cells fixed in acetone or methanol. There are many citations using this antibody for IF with PFA-fixation, as well as for ICC. There is one publication using the antibody for IHC, PMID: 28369137.
