KCNQ1 Antibody (E-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects KCNQ1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). KCNQ1 is a crucial voltage-gated potassium channel that plays a significant role in the repolarization phase of action potentials in excitable cells, particularly in the heart and cochlea. KCNQ1 is essential for maintaining the electrical stability of cardiac myocytes, and dysfunction can lead to serious cardiac arrhythmias, highlighting its importance in cardiovascular health. KCNQ1 is composed of a large α subunit that forms the core of the channel and is associated with the β subunit KCNE1, which modulates activity. The channel′s ability to regulate potassium ion flow is vital for proper heart rhythm and auditory function, as mutations in the KCNQ1 gene can result in long QT syndrome, a condition that predisposes individuals to life-threatening arrhythmias, while mutations in related KCNQ proteins can lead to hearing loss. KCNQ1 is characterized by six transmembrane domains and functions as a tetramer, allowing for the formation of heteromeric channels with other KCNQ family members, thereby contributing to the diversity of potassium currents in various tissues.
