SEE ALSO...

KAT II Antibody (G-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects KAT II protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). KAT II (G-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. KAT II, a member of the kynurenine aminotransferase family, plays a crucial role in lysine degradation, which is essential for maintaining amino acid homeostasis and energy metabolism within cells. This mitochondrial protein is predominantly expressed in the liver but is also found in significant amounts in the heart, brain, kidney, pancreas, ovary, and testis. KAT II catalyzes the conversion of L-2-aminoadipate and 2-oxoglutarate into 2-oxoglutaramate and L-glutamate, a reaction that is vital for proper functioning of metabolic pathways. Notably, KAT II functions as a homodimer, which may influence enzymatic activity and interactions with other proteins, thereby impacting various physiological processes.
