ITM1 Antibody (A-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ITM1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ITM1 (A-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ITM1, also known as integral membrane protein 1, transmembrane protein TMC, or STT3A, is a crucial component of the oligosaccharyltransferase complex, predominantly expressed in the liver, pancreas, muscle, placenta, and skin fibroblasts. This multi-pass membrane protein is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum, where ITM1 plays a vital role in the glycosylation of nascent proteins. Specifically, ITM1 catalyzes the transfer of high mannose oligosaccharides to asparagine residues in proteins entering the ER lumen, utilizing lipid-linked oligosaccharides as donors. The importance of this process lies in its contribution to proper protein folding and stability, which are essential for cellular function and overall organismal health. Notably, ITM1 is one of two multicellular eukaryotic homologs of the yeast protein Stt3, which is integral to the yeast oligosaccharyltransferase complex. While ITM1 exhibits lower activity compared to its homolog SIMP, ITM1 demonstrates greater substrate selectivity, highlighting its specialized role in the glycosylation process.
