IRP-2 Antibody (4G11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects IRP-2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). IRP-2 Antibody (4G11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. IRP-2 plays a crucial role in iron metabolism, which is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis. Located primarily in the cytoplasm, IRP-2 functions as a key regulator of iron uptake and storage by binding to iron-responsive elements (IREs) in mRNA, thereby influencing the translation of proteins involved in iron transport and storage. This regulatory mechanism ensures that cells can adapt to varying iron levels and respond to oxidative stress, which can be detrimental if iron levels are not properly managed. By modulating the expression of proteins such as transferrin receptor and ferritin, IRP-2 helps maintain a delicate balance of iron within the cell, preventing both deficiency and toxicity. The ability of IRP-2 to respond to changes in iron concentration and other signaling factors underscores its importance in cellular health and disease, making anti-IRP-2 antibody (4G11) a valuable tool for researchers studying iron metabolism and related disorders.
