SEE ALSO...

IRP-2 Antibody (7H6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects IRP-2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IRP-2 Antibody (7H6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. IRP-2 plays a crucial role in iron metabolism, which is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis. Located primarily in the cytoplasm, IRP-2 acts as a key regulator of iron homeostasis by binding to iron-responsive elements (IREs) in the mRNA of genes involved in iron uptake and storage. This binding can either inhibit translation or stabilize mRNA, thereby controlling the levels of proteins such as transferrin receptor and ferritin, which are essential for iron transport and storage, respectively. IRP-2′s ability to respond to fluctuations in iron levels and various stress signals, including nitrogen monoxide and cytokines, underscores its importance in cellular adaptation to changing iron availability and oxidative stress. Using IRP-2 (7H6) antibody in your research can provide valuable insights into the regulatory mechanisms of iron metabolism and their implications in various physiological and pathological conditions.

Can this IRP-2 Antibody be used for an RNA pull-down assay? I need to extract the IRP2-mRNA complex from primary tissue of the mouse brain, and then do an RNA-seq and a mass spec.

Can sc-33682: IRP-2 (7H6) be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, sc-33682: IRP-2 (7H6) is validated for use in IHC with formalin fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer, pH 6, and heat. The complete protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
