IRF-1 Antibody (E-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects IRF-1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IRF-1 (E-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Interferon regulatory factor-1 (IRF-1) plays a crucial role in the immune response by acting as a transcriptional activator for type I interferon genes, which are essential for antiviral defense and immune regulation. IRF-1 is primarily located in the nucleus, where IRF-1 binds to specific DNA sequences in the promoters of interferon-α and interferon-β genes, facilitating their transcription. This nuclear localization enables direct regulatory effects on gene expression, thereby influencing the immune response to infections and other stimuli. Additionally, IRF-1 interacts with other members of the interferon regulatory factor family, such as IRF-2, which can modulate IRF-1 activity, highlighting the complexity of the regulatory networks involved in immune responses. IRF-1′s ability to activate transcription while being antagonized by IRF-2 underscores IRF-1′s importance in maintaining a balanced immune response, making IRF-1 a significant target for research in immunology and therapeutic interventions.

I'm looking for an IRF-1 antibody that will react with mouse and/or rat. Am I correct that this is the only one that has been tested on mouse-originated cells and worked? Thank you!

Thank you for your question. This antibody is an excellent choice for detection of IRF-1 in mouse, rat and human samples. We also have two other IRF-1 antibodies that are recommended for mouse and rat and have data in mouse cell lines: IRF-1 Antibody (F-2): sc-514505 and IRF-1 Antibody (F-2): sc-514505.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well for western blotting but not ChIPDisappointed that the only antibody, C-20 sc-497, was discontinued since I performed a Chromatin immunoprecipitation experiment in parallel comparing this and the discontinued antibody and this one did not work at all compared to getting 5 fold enrichment of regions known to bind IRF1 with the old antibody.
