Integrin α8 Antibody (F-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Integrin alpha 8 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Integrin alpha 8 antibody (F-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Integrins, which are heterodimers made up of noncovalently associated transmembrane α and β subunits, play a crucial role in mediating cell adhesion and cytoskeletal organization, while also functioning as signaling receptors that influence numerous biological processes such as cell growth, differentiation, migration, and apoptosis. Integrin alpha 8 protein is particularly important as Integrin alpha 8 is expressed in contractile interstitial cells and smooth muscle cells, with expression being upregulated in response to lung injury. Notably, Integrin alpha 8 serves as a marker for smooth muscle cells, appearing as early as alpha smooth muscle actin. Additionally, Integrin alpha 8 chain is uniquely expressed in the glomerulus by mesangial cells, where Integrin alpha 8 is believed to play a vital role in maintaining tissue integrity during glomerular injury, highlighting significance in renal health and disease.
