IL-6 Antibody (E-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects IL-6 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-IL-6 antibody (E-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Interleukin-6, or IL-6, is a multifunctional protein composed of 212 amino acids that plays a pivotal role in immune response, inflammation, and hematopoiesis. IL-6 is primarily secreted by immune cells, including T cells and macrophages, and is crucial for B cell differentiation and acute-phase protein production during inflammatory response. IL-6′s ability to act as both a pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine makes IL-6 essential for maintaining homeostasis in the immune system. Dysregulation of IL-6 has been implicated in various pathological conditions, including autoimmune diseases, chronic inflammatory disorders, and certain cancers, highlighting IL-6′s importance as a therapeutic target. IL-6 receptor, a trimeric complex, consists of an IL-6-specific α chain and a homodimer of the gp130 glycoprotein, which is common to several interleukin receptors. Upon binding of IL-6, the receptor complex activates associated kinases JAK1 and JAK2, leading to Stat3 phosphorylation and nuclear translocation, which drives transcription of genes involved in inflammatory response.
