IL-5 Antibody (B-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects IL-5 in mouse and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IL-5 (B-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Interleukin-5, or IL-5, plays a crucial role in the immune system by promoting the growth and differentiation of B cells and eosinophils, which are essential for mounting an effective immune response, particularly in allergic reactions and asthma. IL-5 is primarily secreted by activated T cells and acts through the IL-5 receptor, which is composed of an alpha chain that binds IL-5 with low affinity and a beta chain that forms a high-affinity receptor complex. The beta chain is shared with the receptors for interleukin-3 and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor, highlighting the interconnectedness of these signaling pathways in immune regulation. Understanding IL-5 and receptor function is vital for developing targeted therapies for allergic diseases and other conditions characterized by eosinophilia.
