IL-15 Antibody (E-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects IL-15 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IL-15 Antibody (E-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Interleukin-15 (IL-15), also known as IL-T, is a crucial cytokine that plays a significant role in the immune response by stimulating the proliferation of T cells and natural killer (NK) cells, while also enhancing B cell expansion and antibody production. Unlike IL-2, which is primarily produced by lymphocytes, IL-15 is secreted by a variety of cells, including macrophages, epithelial cells, muscle tissue, and the placenta, highlighting diverse sources and functions. IL-15 consists of a 162 amino acid precursor that undergoes cleavage to yield the mature form, and is essential for the maintenance of memory T cells and the activation of lymphokine-activated killer (LAK) cells. IL-15 has been shown to act as a chemoattractant for human blood T lymphocytes, further emphasizing importance in orchestrating immune responses. IL-15 shares the β signaling subunit of the IL-2 receptor, and evidence suggests that IL-15 also utilizes the common IL-2 receptor gamma subunit, similar to other key cytokines such as IL-2, IL-4, and IL-7, thereby underscoring an integral role in immune signaling pathways.
