IFI-16 Antibody (1G7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects IFI-16 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-IFI-16 antibody (1G7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. IFI-16 plays a crucial role in immune response, particularly in viral DNA recognition, which is essential for initiating appropriate immune reactions. IFI-16 is primarily localized in the nucleus, where IFI-16 functions as a transcriptional regulator and modulates various signaling pathways, including those activated by interferons. IFI-16′s ability to detect and respond to foreign DNA is vital for host defense against viral infections, triggering production of type I interferons and other cytokines that enhance immune response. IFI-16 interacts with other proteins involved in immune signaling, such as STING (stimulator of interferon genes), further underscoring IFI-16′s importance in innate immune system. Interferon-gamma can induce IFI-16 expression in certain cell types, highlighting IFI-16′s role in adaptive immune response as well.

Could this antibody reactive with mouse sample?

I use this antibody and the bands are super clear but I see 3 lower bands around 40-50 kDa and couldn't identify them. One of the wb pictures you have shown on the product sheet has the same bands so you might explain why the additional bands appear.

Thank you for your question. This protein's entry in uniprot (accession Q16666) shows three shorter alternative isoforms. As they still contain the antibody's epitope sequence, they will be detected in western blots.

I work with mouse samples and need to do IHC. How can that work with this mouse monoclonal antibody?

We recommend using conjugated primary antibodies. This product, sc-8023, is available directly conjugated to FITC, AF488, and AF 647.

We treated U373 cells with reagent at different concentrations, and collected total proteins after 24 h treatment (unpublished data).
