IF2 Antibody (H-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects IF2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IF2 (H-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. IF2, also known as mitochondrial translational initiation factor 2, is a crucial 727 amino acid component of the protein synthesis machinery in eukaryotic cells, primarily localized in the mitochondria. IF2 promotes GTP-dependent binding of initiator tRNA to the ribosome, which is vital for protein synthesis initiation, essential for cellular function and energy production. IF2 expression is most abundant in skeletal muscle and other tissues with high energy demands. The gene encoding IF2 is located on human chromosome 2, a region containing over 1,400 genes and constituting nearly 8% of the human genome, highlighting this chromosomal area′s significance in human health and disease.
