SEE ALSO...

HuC Antibody (D-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects HuC protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-HuC antibody (D-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HuC protein, part of the Elav-like family of RNA-binding proteins, plays a crucial role in neuronal differentiation and maintenance, being expressed in postmitotic neurons. These proteins, including HuB, HuC, and HuD, are characterized by three RNA recognition motifs, which enable specific binding to AU-rich elements in the 3′-untranslated regions of mRNA transcripts. This interaction prevents rapid degradation of mRNA, thereby stabilizing transcripts essential for regulating gene expression involved in cell growth and differentiation. HuC′s ability to shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm, facilitated by a nuclear export signal, ensures accessibility to target mRNA, ultimately influencing neuronal function and development.
