HSV-1 ICP8 Antibody (11E2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects HSV-1 ICP8 protein of Herpes simplex virus origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Anti-HSV-1 ICP8 antibody (11E2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The herpes simplex virus (HSV), commonly known for causing cold sores, is a highly contagious pathogen that can establish lifelong latent infections in the host. HSV-1 ICP8 plays a crucial role in the viral life cycle as the major single-strand DNA-binding protein, essential for viral genome replication. HSV-1 ICP8 facilitates the conversion of single-stranded DNA into a double-stranded form, which is vital for virus replication and propagation within the host. HSV-1 ICP8′s ability to destabilize DNA helices at higher concentrations assists in the reverse reaction, highlighting dual functionality in DNA metabolism. Understanding HSV-1 ICP8′s role is important for developing therapeutic strategies against herpes simplex virus infections, as targeting this protein could disrupt viral replication and mitigate disease progression.
