SEE ALSO...

HSV-1 gD Antibody (DL6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects HSV-1 gD protein of HSV-1 origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and flow cytometry (FCM). HSV-1 gD (DL6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The glycoprotein D (gD) plays a pivotal role in the entry of herpes simplex virus into host cells, as gD is essential for the fusion of the viral envelope with the host cell membrane. This process is critical for viral infection and propagation, as glycoprotein D interacts with specific receptors on the surface of target cells, facilitating virus entry. Notably, glycoprotein D′s ability to bind to cellular receptors is crucial for virus infectivity, as gD initiates a series of conformational changes that lead to membrane fusion. The interaction of glycoprotein D with the gH/gL heterodimer further enhances this process, underscoring gD′s importance in the viral life cycle. Understanding glycoprotein D function is vital for developing therapeutic strategies against HSV infections, as targeting gD could potentially inhibit viral entry and spread.

Hello, does this antibody react against HSV2 GD? Thank you

Asked by: giulia
Thank you for your question. HSV-1 gD Antibody (DL6): sc-21719 detects its target protein based on an epitope mapping to amino acids 272-279 of HSV gD. No data on the antibody's biological function is available, it has only been evaluated for detection purposes in WB, IP and FCM applications.

Do you have an anti HSV-1 glycoprotein D antibody that binds in the region AA 1-269? Conjugated for Western blotting, monoclonal or polyclonal, either works. thanks

Asked by: Lkeller11
Thank you for your question. No, unfortunately we do not currently offer an antibody with that epitope mapping. Please check back later!

Can this antibody be used to stain HSV-1 gD infected mouse samples without non-specific staining?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. To avoid non-specific staining with anti-mouse secondaries, we recommend using directly conjugated primaries. This HSV-1 gD antibody is available conjugated to HRP, FITC, PE, AF488 and AF647.
