HSL Antibody (G-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects HSL protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-HSL antibody (G-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HSL protein, or hormone-sensitive lipase, plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism by catalyzing the hydrolysis of triglycerides into free fatty acids, which are essential for energy production, particularly in adipose and cardiac tissues. HSL is involved in the conversion of cholesteryl esters to free cholesterol in steroidogenic tissues, such as the small intestine, thereby facilitating steroid hormone synthesis. HSL protein is predominantly located in the cytosol and exhibits a unique expression pattern, with two major isoforms arising from alternative translational start codons; the short isoform is primarily found in adipose tissue, while the long isoform, often referred to as testicular HSL, is expressed in steroidogenic tissues like the testis. The long isoform contains an additional N-terminal region of approximately 300 amino acids, which is absent in the short isoform, highlighting the structural diversity and functional specialization of HSL in different tissues.
