SEE ALSO...

HP1α Antibody (GA-62) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects HP1 alpha protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-HP1α antibody (GA-62) is available as a non-conjugated format. HP1 alpha protein plays a crucial role in heterochromatin formation and maintenance, essential for regulating gene expression and maintaining genomic stability. Heterochromatin is characterized by its densely packed structure, which limits access to transcription machinery, thereby silencing gene expression in these regions. This silencing is vital for processes such as X-chromosome inactivation and transposable element suppression, which can otherwise lead to genomic instability. HP1α interaction with chromatin assembly factor-1 (CAF-1) facilitates newly synthesized histone deposition into chromatin during DNA replication, ensuring faithful inheritance of genome epigenetic state. Dynamic association of HP1 proteins with chromatin during cell cycle highlights their role in chromatin remodeling and gene expression regulation, making HP1α a significant marker for chromatin biology and epigenetics studies.

I am using HP1α (GA-62): sc-130446 for immunofluorescence, what dilution of this antibody should I use?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. We recommend a starting dilution of 1:50. However, optimal antibody concentration should be determined by titration. Please find our full immunofluorescence protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
