SEE ALSO...

HFE Antibody (C-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects HFE of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). HFE (C-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HFE plays a crucial role in iron homeostasis by regulating iron absorption in the intestine, which is vital for preventing iron overload conditions such as hereditary hemochromatosis. This condition can lead to serious health issues, including liver cirrhosis, diabetes, skin hyperpigmentation, and heart failure. HFE is primarily localized in the crypt enterocytes of the duodenum, where HFE interacts with the transferrin receptor, forming a stable complex essential for iron transport. This intracellular localization allows HFE to effectively modulate iron uptake and release, thereby maintaining iron balance in the body. The gene encoding HFE is located on human chromosome 6p21.3, and proper HFE function is critical for preventing the development of preventable cancers associated with iron overload.

Hi, do you sell or know about an antibody that recognizes H63D mutated region of the HFE molecule (amino acid 63 in the HFE-alpha1 domaine: Histidine versus Aspartate exchange)?

Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question. We currently offer two antibodies specific against HFE, which are Anti-HFE Antibody (C-12): sc-514405 and Anti-HFE Antibody (44-H): sc-130375. Unfortunately, neither recognise any particular mutations specifically.

Hello, HFE is a transmembrane protein. Where does the antibody bind? On the intracellular part or the extracellular part of the protein?

Asked by: We4ver
Thank you for your question. HFE Antibody (C-12): sc-514405 was raised against amino acids 210-263 mapping within an internal region of HFE of human origin. This sequence corresponds to the protein's extracellular domain.

Hello. What secondary antibody (for Western blot) would be best for these: 1) HFE Antibody (C-12): sc-514405, 2) CD71 Antibody (3B8 2A1): sc-32272, 3)TFR2 Antibody (9F8 1C11): sc-32271, 4) β-2-Microglobulin Antibody (BBM.1): sc-13565 ?

Asked by: AnnaMargret
Thank you for your question. I would suggest this secondary reagent for use with all these antibodies: mouse IgG kappa binding protein (m-IgGκ BP) , sc-516102 https://www.scbt.com/p/m-igg-kappa-bp-hrp?requestFrom=search

I need to use an antibody to detect the protein in samples of canine origin. Do you know if HFE (C-12): sc-514405 mouse monoclonal antibody will work?

Asked by: TinTin
Thank you for your inquiry. Please contact our Technical Service Department and we would be happy to perform sequence analysis and review our data to answer any questions you may have about additional species reactivity. We are available by phone, e-mail or chat.
