SEE ALSO...

Hemoglobin γ Antibody (51-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody raised against human Hemoglobin gamma, also known as Hemoglobin γ, HBG1, or HBG2. Hemoglobin γ monoclonal antibody (51-7) specifically detects Hemoglobin γ of human origin using techniques such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). Hemoglobin gamma is a globin protein subunit that forms part of fetal hemoglobin (Hb F), which consists of two alpha (α) chains and two gamma (γ) chains, and is the predominant form of hemoglobin during fetal development. Located in the cytoplasm of red blood cells, Hemoglobin γ plays a crucial role in oxygen transport from the mother to the fetus due to its higher affinity for oxygen compared to adult hemoglobin. The cellular localization in the cytoplasm allows for efficient oxygen binding and release within erythrocytes, facilitating adequate oxygen supply to rapidly developing fetal tissues. After birth, Hemoglobin γ expression decreases as beta (β) chains gradually replace gamma chains to form adult hemoglobin (Hb A). Studying Hemoglobin γ is essential for understanding fetal development and investigating disorders such as hereditary persistence of fetal hemoglobin and hemoglobinopathies. Hemoglobin γ (51-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, offering versatility for a wide range of experimental applications.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good and specificvery good and specific. Might have been able to pick up both gamma species on a 14% gel. Signal is lower than for alpha and beta but works for both RBC and HSC-derived cells.
