Hemoglobin β Antibody (37-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody specifically raised against human Hemoglobin beta. Hemoglobin β monoclonal antibody (37-8) detects Hemoglobin beta, also known as Hemoglobin subunit beta, β-globin, or CD113t-C, in human samples using techniques such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). Hemoglobin beta is a vital component of hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying protein in red blood cells that transports oxygen from the lungs to tissues and facilitates the return of carbon dioxide to the lungs. The hemoglobin molecule consists of two alpha (α) chains and two beta (β) chains arranged in pairs to form a tetramer, each associated with a heme group containing an iron ion that binds oxygen. The interactions between the α and β chains are crucial for the structural integrity and oxygen-binding properties of hemoglobin. Mutations in the Hemoglobin beta gene can lead to hemoglobinopathies such as sickle cell anemia and beta-thalassemia, highlighting the importance of studying this protein in medical research and diagnostics. Hemoglobin β (37-8) antibody is available in both unconjugated and conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing versatility for various experimental applications.

Could you please let me know which part of the protein it detects — the N-terminal or the C-terminal? I am looking for an HBB antibody suitable for immunofluorescence that specifically detects the N-terminal region of the protein. Thanks.

Asked by: sjp227
Thank you for your question. No epitope mapping has been performed for this antibody as of yet, so its binding site is currently not known.

I am looking for an antibody that could recognize the haemoglobin beta with sickle cells mutation. could you tell me if the residue Glu6 is included in the antigen for the following antibody? Hemoglobin β Antibody (37-8) and (21): sc-130321

Asked by: laura
Thank you for your question. Hemoglobin β Antibody (21): sc-130321 and Hemoglobin β Antibody (21): sc-130321 were raised against recombinant Hemoglobin β of human origin. No epitope mapping has been performed for either antibody, so their exact binding sites are not known at this point, unfortunately.

Which part of sequence of human beta hemoglobin was used to generate Hemoglobin β Antibody (37-8)? Can this antibody detect N-terminal of human beta hemoglobin

Asked by: Ming87
Thank you for your question. The exact antigenic sequence used to develop this mouse monoclonal antibody, Hemoglobin β (37-8): sc-21757, is not known. The epitope recognized has also not been determined so we can not advise you whether or not the antibody is able to detect a specific N-terminal sequence of human beta hemoglobin.
