HBP1 Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects HBP1 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). HBP1, a member of the high mobility group (HMG) family of transcription factors, plays a crucial role in regulating cell cycle progression and differentiation. HBP1 is characterized by the presence of a conserved HMG box motif that facilitates DNA binding, allowing HBP1 to interact with key tumor suppressor proteins like Rb and p130 to initiate cell cycle arrest. This arrest is essential for terminal cell differentiation, as cell cycle arrest sets the stage for the expression of tissue-specific markers. Notably, HBP1′s continued activity can inhibit the expression of these markers by associating with MyoD proteins, which are vital for muscle cell differentiation. The interplay between HBP1 and the MyoD family, which includes Myf5, MyoD, and myogenin, is critical for the development of specific cell phenotypes, as the progression of terminal differentiation relies on a decrease in HBP1 activity coupled with the activation of MyoD-induced gene transcription. Anti-HBP1 antibody (A-5) serves as a valuable tool for studying the intricate mechanisms of cell differentiation and the regulation of gene expression in human tissues.
