SEE ALSO...

HBP1 Antibody (G-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects HBP1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). HBP1 Antibody (G-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HMG-box protein-1 (HBP1) plays a crucial role in regulating cell differentiation and proliferation as a member of the high mobility group (HMG) family of transcription factors, which are characterized by a conserved HMG box that facilitates DNA binding. HBP1 is primarily located in the nucleus, where HBP1 interacts with key tumor suppressor proteins such as Rb and p130, initiating cell cycle arrest that is essential for terminal cell differentiation. This initial arrest is followed by the expression of tissue-specific genes, which are critical for the development of specialized cell types. HBP1′s continued activity can inhibit the expression of these genes by associating with MyoD proteins, which are vital for muscle cell differentiation. The balance between HBP1 activity and MyoD-induced gene transcription is therefore pivotal in determining the progression of terminal differentiation, highlighting HBP1′s importance in cellular development and potential implications in cancer biology and regenerative medicine.
