HAI-1 Antibody (H-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects HAI-1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). HAI-1 (H-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HAI-1 protein plays a crucial role in regulating the activity of hepatocyte growth factor activator (HGFAC), which is essential for tissue repair following damage, such as hepatic and renal injury. HGFAC is initially produced as an inactive single-chain precursor that undergoes limited proteolytic activation, a process that is tightly controlled by HAI-1 and other HGF activator inhibitors. This regulation is vital because inappropriate activation of HGF can lead to excessive tissue remodeling and fibrosis. Human HAI-1 transcript is expressed in various tissues, including the placenta, kidney, pancreas, prostate, and small intestine, as well as in fetal kidney and lung, translating into a 478 amino acid protein. Additionally, human HAI-2 gene, which maps to chromosome 19q13.1, encodes a 252 amino acid protein known as human placental bikunin, further highlighting the importance of HAI proteins in both normal physiology and pathological conditions. HAI-1 and HAI-2 are produced in membrane-associated forms and are secreted as active, proteolytically truncated proteins, underscoring their functional significance in the regulation of proteolytic processes in injured tissues.
