SEE ALSO...

GSK-3α Antibody (H-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GSK3A protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by WB, IP, IF, IHCP, and ELISA. GSK-3α Antibody (H-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, HRP, PE, FITC, and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK-3) plays a crucial role in numerous signaling pathways, particularly in glycogen metabolism and cellular adhesion, and has been linked to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer′s disease. GSK-3α and GSK-3β exhibit distinct subcellular localization, influencing their functional roles within the cell. GSK-3α is primarily localized in the cytoplasm, where GSK-3α phosphorylates various substrates, including the Tau protein, which is essential for microtubule stability in neurons. The phosphorylation of Tau by GSK-3α is particularly significant, as hyperphosphorylated Tau aggregates into paired helical filaments, a hallmark of neurofibrillary tangles found in Alzheimer′s disease. This interaction underscores GSK-3α′s importance in maintaining neuronal health and highlights GSK-3α′s potential as a therapeutic target in neurodegenerative disorders.
