Grim19 Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects Grim19 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Grim19, also known as gene associated with retinoic-interferon-induced mortality 19 protein or cell death-regulatory protein Grim-19, plays a crucial role in cellular processes by functioning as a tumor suppressor. Grim19 (C-5) antibody targets a protein primarily located in the mitochondrion, where Grim19 is integral to the assembly and electron transfer activity of mitochondrial complex I. The localization of Grim19 is significant because Grim19 not only facilitates the transfer of electrons from NADH to the respiratory chain, which is essential for ATP production, but also participates in the interferon/all-trans-retinoic acid (IFN/RA) cell death pathway, inducing apoptosis in response to cellular stress signals. Grim19 can translocate to the nucleus upon treatment with interferon or retinoic acid, suggesting a dual role in both mitochondrial function and nuclear signaling. This unique characteristic positions anti-Grim19 antibody (C-5) as an invaluable tool for researchers studying implications in tumor biology and cell death mechanisms.

What is the recommended fixation method for immunofluorescence staining with Grim19 (C-5): sc-365045 monoclonal antibody?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend fixing cells for 5 minutes in -10°C methanol and allowing to air dry. The full protocol can be viewed here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
