GnRH I Antibody (C-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GnRH plays a crucial role in the regulation of human reproduction by orchestrating the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, which is essential for the release of luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone from the anterior pituitary. This decapeptide is produced by hypothalamic neurons and is secreted in a pulsatile manner, ensuring the proper timing of hormonal release necessary for reproductive function. GnRH is expressed in the hypothalamus, acrosomal region of human sperm, anterior pituitary, and certain cancer cells, indicating diverse roles beyond reproduction. A second form, GnRH II, primarily found in the midbrain and expressed in tissues such as the kidney, bone marrow, and prostate, suggests additional functions that are yet to be fully understood. GnRH binding to specific G protein-coupled receptors in the pituitary is a critical step in regulating the synthesis and secretion of gonadotropins, highlighting GnRH′s importance in both normal physiology and potential pathological conditions.
